About ATHENA Reddy

Athena modeling for Vidal Sassoon

I’m Athena (they/them/theirs) LA-based actor, writer and musician. I’m also a teaching artist specializing in embodied voice and movement. I hold an MFA in Acting from The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in the UK and yes I do like tea. My early years were spent making weird comedy music, wandering around with a guitar and modeling between NYC and London.

In 2021-2022, shorts I acted in were at Tribeca Film Festival, NYC Indie Shorts Awards, Halloweenapalooza and one of my comedy sketches was shown as part of Dan Harmon’s Channel 101. I’ve also made an appearance in a sketch on Late Night with Stephen Colbert.

Corpus Vile is a podcast I wrote and performed. Every episode is a different body horror story told from the first person. I’m a practitioner of Butoh and trained yoga teacher, I has a specific interest in embodiment, body horror and transhumanism.

I wrote and directed Chimera Therapy, a short film about men who have been experimented on by an evil corporation.

I also write and improvise comedy. Check out the videos page for some of that stuff. I produce comedy with my partner, writer-director-producer, Nick Grant. In Nick’s first feature, Gutboy, A Badtime Story, I have an extensive wrestling scene.

VR Games! What a delight!

I wrote and performed scores scores for a few indie shorts including This Very Evening and the webseries, Casual Hex. I love to experiment with texture and genre using synthesizers and voice pedals but I’m always game to grab an acoustic guitar and do a 70s T-Rex acoustic cover set. Right now, I’m working are working on an experimental internet musical under the name Draven Darkmatter.

You can catch me as Puck in A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Shaken, Not Speared , an immersive audio drama with improvised interviews with the characters in a 5-part limited series.
